Mobile Alabama - Halfway!
Started this morning 64 miles above Mobile Bay on the Tombigbee river with no locks left and clear sailing to Mobile.
Entered Mobile harbor and felt insignificant with the ocean going ships, military ships and huge dry docks. As we went out into Mobile Bay (Gulf of Mexico), we were greeted by a small pod of dolphins. Unfortunately we were to slow to capture them on camera, but will treasure the memory. Crossing Mobile Bay we were surprised that the average depth was about 5 feet. We ran 20 miles across the bay to our harbor and hotel for the next few days.
Our boat is safely docked and we are enjoying hard land and air conditioning, but mostly hot showers and cool beds! The first photo below is our alligator friend at yesterday's lock. Zoom in and you can count the teeth!
We are really missing our wives and are looking forward to their visit next week before we turn around and boat home.
We have completed 1600+ miles, 42 locks, 7 rivers, 12 and 1/2 days on the water!
Bucket list checked
It seems like a dream and we will continue our posts with our return.
